UEFA is again organizing the 16th edition of the European Nations Championships, a competition that joins all the national teams in Europe in trying to qualify for the final stages of the tournament, which then crowns one nation as the European Champion that wins the Henry Delaunay Cup. The competition evolved slowly with the first five editions (1960-1976) having only the last four matches hosted in one country. This changed from the sixth edition (1980) for a full tournament of 16 teams and again in the 2016 edition which saw an increase in the participants of the final tournament to 24 teams.
On the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the competition (1960 - 2020), on the initiative of the former French UEFA President Michel Platini, the 2020 edition will be hosted all around Europe instead of in one or two countries. In fact all matches will be played in 11 different European cities / countries: Baku Azerbaijan, Copenhagen Denmark, London England, Munich Germany, Budapest Hungary, Rome Italy, Amsterdam Netherlands, Bucharest Romania, St Petersburg Russia, Glasgow Scotland and Seville Spain. The Inauguration match will be played in Rome Italy, whilst the Semi-Finals and Final will be played in London England.
Originally this edition was to be played between the 12th June and 12th July 2020 but due to the worldwide pandemic COVID-19 the competition was moved by a year - 11th June to 11th July 2021.

COACH
MANCINI Roberto - 10 games
The mascot of this edition is the freestyler Skillzy, inspired also from street and panna culture. Wearing a blue hoody with the logo of EURO 2020 on his chest, capris, knockoff sneakers and holding the ball with which he do his freestyle tricks and flicks. His name is inspired by the word 'Skills', something all freestylers need to master their talent.
The first two editions (1960-1964) were called the 'European Cup' but since the third edition (1968) the tournament started to be called the 'European Nations Championships'. The final tournament is normally held in one country, although three editions of the European Nations Championship were co-hosted by two countries - Belgium and Netherlands in 2000, Austria and Switzerland in 2008, and Poland and Ukraine in 2012.
France is the nation who hosted the most final tournaments, three 1960, 1984 and 2016. Italy won the competition in 1968, finished runner-up twice, in 2000 and 2012 and also finished twice in the fourth position - 1980 and 1988. Italy hosted the European Nations Championship in 1968 and 1980.
The predecessor of this European competition was the 'Coppa Internazionale' that was played between the Central European Nations between 1927 and 1960. The competition was played on a home/away basis and reached six editions. Italy won two of them (first edition - 1930 and third edition - 1935) and finished second in another (second edition - 1932).

SENSI
(Inter)
Matteo PESSINA was kept in the Azzurri Squad for the last ten days before the beginning of the competition as a Reserve due to the poor health condition of Stefano SENSI and Marco VERRATTI. However, four days before the inauguration match, Stefano SENSI was declared unfit to participate in the EURO 2020 and thus Matteo PESSINA took his place in the squad with the shirt number 12.
Two days before the inauguration match and the beginning of EURO 2020, Lorenzo PELLEGRINI was injured during training. The next day he was replaced in the squad by Gaetano CASTROVILLI with shirt number 7. Castrovilli formed part of the Extended Pre-Euro 2020 Squad.
